Winter
Christmas and New Year are a time to prepare traditional Greek dishes and pastries such as shortbread cookies, Christmas biscuits, breads and cakes. To celebrate the feast of Shrovetide, which falls during the winter season, the Greek cook prepares a traditional meal of spaghetti with pork meat and sweets called "melomakarona" and "vassilopita."
